To help with Bryan K. Ward's recovery; artist, father, friend, musician and visionary!
Bryan recently got into a severe accident. He is rather a solitary person, so many of you might not have heard what happened. While on a boat, he was struck in the head by the boom on a sailboat and sustained several hemorrhagic brain contusions, pneumocephalus, multiple facial fractures, and numerous chipped teeth.
This campaign is set up with the desire to help him pay medical bills and to support the time he will be unemployed. Bryan does have basic health insurance. However, we are unsure how much will be covered and assume most of his dental will not. He is not supposed to work for at least 4-6 weeks or lift anything heavy during his recovery; this excludes working at his current job. Currently, he is home, basically bedridden, and it is unknown if any future medical conditions will be associated with the injuries. READ MORE - JOIN THE CAMPAIGN
This is very sad - another Icon of the Fantastic Realists is gone. This would have gone largely unnoticed (what a shame, actually) were it not for Sigrid Nepelius posting in her German language webzine Phantastisch. A quick websearch reveals that there is nothing at all, other than this article on Phantastisch. The papers didn't notice, and neither the english nor the german wikipedia articles had been updated.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THIS ARTICLE: The Phantasten Community mourns one of its greats. The Viennese painter and graphic artist Wolfgang Hutter (13 December 1928) passed away on September 26, 2014. Hutter was a founding member of the Art Club and one of the main representatives of the famous Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. His magical canvasses are worked out to the smallest detail and reveal his sensitive handwriting. Hutter's art encompasses also tapestries and mosaics such as the mosaic floor in the Theater an der Wien. For three decades, Wolfgang Hutter worked as a professor at the Vienna University of Applied Arts. In 1977 he received the Prize of the City of Vienna for Visual Arts, 2011 and he was honored with the Golden Medal for Service to the City of Vienna. Let's hope that the death of Wolfgang Hutter is no longer ignored in the public media. Such a large and internationally important Austrian artist and his family should in any case be granted the final tribute in the form of an honoring obituary. Many thanks to Gerhard Habarta without whom the sad news of the death of Wolfgang Hutter and this little obituary would not exist.

Error 500 on our Ning Network pages - Visionary Art
Though Ning Status claims that after yesterdays glitches about Error 500 'All systems go', I found that this is not so with our network. Some pages work, some don't - it changes frequently - flickering off and on. After several tries to even get into the network, and several more tries to submit a ticket, I finally succeeded to get through (even submitting the ticket I got Error 500 several times before I got through). This of course affects some (and sometimes all) of our slide show feeds on the public Visionary Art Gallery. I hope Ning will resolve this soon. Our public site is very successful and gets well over 2000 hits a day, with a respectable alexa ranking and very good bounce rate (meaning visitors stay and browse).
At the moment I write this, it seems to work again, but I had problems with 'off-and-on' feeds all morning long, so I am a little worried it may go off again. Hope not!
Artist Adam Scott Miller put together a concept trailer for a TV series about Visionary Art that is currently being worked on under the auspices of Visionary Art Australia. Instrumental in getting the project from the drafting table to reality was fellow artist Bonny Hut.
Initially conceptualized for community TV, it is supposed to be also aired on Australian network TV ABC. Plans are also to later expand it globally and include international artists.
The dedication and engagement of the industrial sponsor TANNPAPIER in Traun, Austria is unsurpassed - I had the opportunity to attend a preview of this exhibition and came away awed! I just wish there were more like this! Showing Visionary Art members Peter Gric, Josef Florian Krichbaum, Andreas Nikolaus Franz and Visionary Hall of Fame artist, the late Peter Proksch - a rich selection of art that occupies the entire administrative building as well as the shop floors, well over 200 works, many of them large scale canvases.
